Smoothies can be made with any ingredients, and they can be thicker or thinner,

depending on your preference. This is our favourite*:



3 spotty bananas (brown spotty bananas are sweetest and easiest to digest)

¾ cup coconut milk or water or a plant-based milk

1 tsp barley grass juice powder (optional, bought online)

1 cup frozen fruit – my favourite is a mango/peach/strawberry mix

1 tbsp hemp seeds to sprinkle on top (optional)


Throw everything into a blender and blend until smooth. It makes about 3 glasses full.

If your bananas are frozen you'll need to add more liquid, unless your other fruit is fresh - then it will balance out. 


*The above recipe is a nice ratio to start with. Spotted bananas make a healthy, creamy and sweet base, then you can play with different milk flavours and frozen fruits/berries. Even add a handful of spinach or kale for extra nutrition, just make sure to blend it well!
